New Shrine Room offered to the Gauthama Buddha’s Dispensation

The elegant new Shrine Room at the Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery in Sydney built with great devotion and respect is beautified with traditional Sri Lankan wood carvings and intricate brass and silver carvings. This new Shrine room which is home to the sacred relics of the Supreme Buddha and that of enlightened Arahants was offered to the Gauthama Buddha’s dispensation on Sunday the 29th of December 2019, with the blessings of the Chief Abbott of the Mahamevnawa Monastic order, the most Venerable Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero in the presence of the Maha Sangha. The event was attended by the Mayor of the Hills Shire Council, Dr. Michelle Byrne, Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Sydney, Mr. M.H.M.N Bandara, Chairman of the Buddhist Council of NSW, Mr. Gawaine Powell Davies, President of the Australian Chinese Buddhist Research Centre, Mr. Richard Lu and other distinguished invited guests and devotees.
